OMYC Cruising Programme 2010

Fellow cruisers,

The 2010 OMYC Sailing Calendar has been produced (see copy on this site). A separate class for cruising boats has been created to encourage sailors who are not particularly inclined to yacht racing, giving them an opportunity to become more involved in social activities of the club. Many of you have already taken part in the Ko Sri Chang or the Sattahip race weekends and we wish to expand on this type of participation. Please contact me if y… Continue

END OF YEAR PARTY - 14 NOVEMBER

Our 2009 monthly racing champions were celebrated at our end of year dinner on Saturday November 14th.

The Class Winners, El Coyote in IRC1, Sansanook in IRC2, Freee Wheeler in the Multihulls and Gulf Charters 1 in the Platus received exquisite trophies in benjarong organized by Bill Gasson.

The party lasted late into the night resulting in the appearance for the subsequent day's rhum race to be rather modest.

Now get ready for 2010!!

THAI RAVER RACE TO SATTAHIP - 12-13 SEPTEMBER

A soft SSW greeted the sixteen boats & ninety sailors as they set sail in the Thai Raiver overnight race to Sattahip last Saturday, in what proved to be yet again another eventful weekend both on & off the water.

The weekend once again tested not only the mettle of the sailors in navigating their way to Sattahip in light conditions against a flooding tide but also their liquid amber endurance on Saturday night.

The cruiser fleet did what cruisers do best and headed south at their leisu… Continue

The Koh Phai Cruise 30/31st August. From Andrew Watt and Gary Baguley

PERFORMANCE BASED HANDICAP SYSTEM

Computer based PHS handicapping is a great development in the sport as is evidenced by its adoption widely through the sailing community, all over the world. It was never designed to compete with or replace measured rules such as IOR, IMS or IRC. For the truly competent and competitive sailor, one design sailing is the best solution.

Performance Based Handicap Systems have been operating in club yacht racing for many years. During that time it has meant that some dedicated volunteer within the… Continue
